Pearl Shekere-Fiberglass
Traditionally, the shekere was made out of a natural gourd. Over the years because of loud amplification the player began fighting a losing battle. Pearl has designed the Fiberglass Shekere to compete at all sound levels. It has great projection and volume. The tension of the skirt (beads) is adjustable and easy to control. Because of the construction material the instrument tends to be brighter than the natural gourd model. It is very durable and breakage is not an issue. The weight is similar to the traditional gourd.
